Disciplinary Relevance of Corpus Translation Studies: Categories, Theories and Trends

  • As a comprehensive research paradigm, the integration of Corpus Translation Studies and its relevant disciplines is the driving force for its birth and development. However, in regard to the very few researches that focus on the disciplinary relevance of corpus translation studies, some relevant disciplines are listed without adequate analysis or interpretation. In view of this problem, based on the data of Corpus Translation Studies published in WoS from 1993 to 2021, this paper tries to clarify the main categories, theoretical mechanisms and trends of the disciplinary relevance of corpus translation studies by mapping knowledge domains, combined with WoS discipline classification, citation statistics and Pareto analysis. The research indicates that the disciplinary relevance of Corpus Translation Studies is inherent in its secondary nature and carried out in various levels and dimensions; for the internal relevance, it takes “Translatology-Linguistics” as the main dimension; and for the external relevance, it connects to dozens of boundary disciplines in which Computer Science, Literary and Cultural Studies, Education and Educational Research are the closest related disciplines; on the whole, the relevance is oriented to the humanities and social sciences, showing the trend of diversification, intersection and comprehensiveness.
