Analysis of C-E Translation of Culture-loaded Words from the Cognitive Metaphorical Perspective — Taking Shanxi Historical Museum Calendar 2021 as an Example

  • Taking culture-loaded words in Shaanxi Historical Museum Calendar 2021 as an example, based on cognitive metaphor theory, this paper constructs a cognitive psychological model in the process of concept mapping, and analyzes and summarizes the translation methods of metaphorical imagery, in order to provide reference for the external translation and dissemination of Chinese culture. Translation of metaphors in culture-loaded words requires three steps: decoding, encoding, and attributing identity. In view of the encoding process of C-E translation of culture-loaded words, translators need to choose appropriate metaphorical translation methods according to their own interpretation, re-metaphorically or de-metaphorically or non-metaphorically adapt the cultural connotation of the original text, and take the integration of the translation with the vision of the target language reader as the ultimate goal, so as to promote the successful reception of the metaphorical images carried by the Chinese culture-loaded words by the target language audience, and help the Chinese culture successfully spread to the outside world.
