Abstract:
The Principal Responsibility System under the leadership of the Party Committee is an important institutional arrangement to adhere to the leadership of the Party and implement democratic centralism in colleges and universities, which is the fundamental system of the Party’s leadership over colleges and universities and the most suitable mode of governance for colleges and universities in China under the current situation. Its essence is to support principals to exercise administrative power according to the law based on adhering to the overall leadership of the Party over colleges and universities. To adhere to and improve the Principal Responsibility System under the leadership of the Party Committee, we should continuously strengthen the political leadership of the Party, improve the internal governance structure of the university, establish and improve the whole chain work mechanism of “research, decision making, implementation, and evaluation”, enhance the fighting power of the Party organizations of faculties and departments, and write a new chapter for building China into a leading power in education.

Abstract:
The construction of the Digital Marxism Academy is an important achievement in exploring the high-quality development of Marxism College in the new era. The overall idea and development concept of its design is to integrate the development of modern information technology and ideological and political education to meet the needs of the construction and development of Marxism College in the new era. In the early stage of operation, the Digital Marxism Academy has developed a series of platform systems and special training to meet the needs of teachers and students, to promote reform and innovation of ideological and political theory course and improve the theoretical quality of teachers and students. In terms of future development, the Digital Marxism Academy will still adhere to this concept, and provide high-quality resources and complete systems for the development of teachers and students of the national Marxism colleges while helping the development of the School of Marxism of University of Science and Technology Beijing.

Abstract:
In recent years, with the rapid expansion of the graduate enrollment scale and the rapid development of graduate education, the issue of tutor ability has become a hot focus of academic attention. Using the literature research method and visual knowledge map, this paper systematically combs 175 Chinese core journals published from 1997 to 2020, to summarize the origin, connotation and dimensions of graduate tutor ability. Also, we have clarified the three evolution stages of graduate tutor ability research and refined four types of research hot topics. Then, an in-depth analysis of the influencing factors, mechanism and effect of graduate tutor ability has been done. Finally, it points out the deficiencies of existing research and discusses the future research direction. This research is helpful for domestic scholars to explore the ability of graduate tutors from a holistic perspective, and it is also of great significance to improve the tutor ability and the quality of graduate training in reality.

Abstract:
At present, the four university rankings including THE, QS, USNEWS, and ARWU are the world university rankings with high recognition. They can reflect the quality of a university, and the setting of observation points has reference significance for the development of universities. This paper aims to condense the specific path to promote the high-quality development of higher education in the context of “breaking the five” through comparing the observation points of the four university rankings and summarizing the specific practices of Beijing University of Science and Technology. This paper provides a useful reference for accelerating the construction of “double first-class” universities and promoting the reform and development of higher education.

Abstract:
The Communist Youth League is a mass organization of youth groups in China. It has universality and support in the grass-roots society, so it has the feasibility of participating in grass-roots governance. At the same time, the complexity of grass-roots governance poses a challenge to the participation ability of the Communist Youth League. Based on the participation of the Communist Youth League in grass-roots governance, this paper analyzes the actual state of the organization’s participating in governance, combined with the current needs of grass-roots governance, analyzes the characteristics of the participation state, explores the causes of the problems, combs the logic of the Communist Youth League’s participation in grass-roots governance, tries to improve the organization’s decoupling and functional dislocation, flexibly integrates into grass-roots governance from four paths, and optimizes the organization’s function, promotes the development of the Communist Youth League itself and provides assistance for strengthening grass-roots social governance and improving governance mechanisms.

Abstract:
The discourse of patriotism education in colleges and universities is a description, propaganda and evaluation of patriotism between the subject and the object based on following the corresponding rules and norms in a certain discourse context, which is a symbol system to construct the patriotism value orientation, ideology and behavior representation of college students. Entering the new era, the discourse of patriotic education in universities faces realistic challenges in terms of identity, system, dominance, and harmony. For this reason, universities must focus on the goal of achieving the roots of college students’ patriotism, analyze the causes of discourse supply and demand contradiction, multiple output, power displacement, and integration game, then explore solutions in terms of discourse concept, discourse content, discourse expression, discourse dissemination, and discourse atmosphere.

A Study of Projection in Ideational Grammatical Metaphor in BA Dissertation — Taking the Chapter of Literature Review as an Example

Abstract:
Previous studies on dissertations are mainly done on the Master’s level or the Ph.D. level, and not much research has been focused on the BA dissertations, not to mention the examination of ideational grammatical metaphor in BA dissertations. Hence, guided by the theory of grammatical metaphor in Systemic Functional Grammar, this study is carried out to look into projection used by English majors in the literature review of their BA dissertations. A questionnaire is designed to investigate students’ preference in using projection language in the literature review. It shows that students have an inclination to use projection structures that are not grammatically metaphorical instead of projection structures that are grammatically metaphorical. Results of the questionnaire show that students have the awareness to diversify the use of projections structures in the literature review, but from the analysis of their actual writing, we find that their use of projection structures is monotonous. Moreover, they tend to use the projection structure which begins with the authors’ surnames, and most of the projection verbs used by them are the ones in verbal processes and mental processes. This way of projection use diverges from that of the undergraduates who are native English speakers. Based on these findings, the main problems in students’ use of projection especially the use of ideational grammatical metaphors, are discussed and related suggestions are put forward.

Abstract:
Critical Genre Analysis (CGA) proposed by Bhatia (2006) focuses on how genre resources are appropriately utilized in a professional environment to achieve communicative purposes. Based on this theory, a four-dimensional model of discourse realization is adopted to analyze the “discussion” section of 60 MA theses by international students from three universities in western China, aiming to examine the use of genre resources therein. The study shows that international students follow certain patterns of move structures and use language with salient academic characteristics; three types of interdiscursivity, i.e. blended interdiscursivity, embedded interdiscursivity and chained interdiscursivity, are employed to help achieve the communicative purposes; and all this is triggered by the underlying academic culture. The three salient discursive features of this section, i.e. visualization, standardization and identity construction, are then scrutinized from the perspective of CGA.

Abstract:
Since the 1980s, researchers at home and abroad have conducted systematic and relatively comprehensive studies on the modality in Chinese. However, there are still some problems in such studies. For one thing, the existing contributions to modality in Chinese focus more on the traditional description of semantic and syntactic features and pragmatic functions of modal expressions, and less on the interpretation of modal meanings from the perspectives of cognitive linguistics, formal linguistics, or functional linguistics. For another, researchers still hold divergent views on the definition and classification of modality, on the relationship between mood and modality, and the identification of modal verbs. It is hoped that future studies on the modality in Chinese will be conducted from different perspectives, in greater depth, and with advanced research methods.

Abstract:
There have been plenty of studies of Return to Nature by Tao Yuanming, a poet in the Jin Dynasty from various perspectives, but few studies have analyzed its ecological implication from linguistic perspectives. Working within the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, this paper conducts an ecolinguistic analysis of the poem, focusing on its mood and modality, transitivity system and theme system, and finds that: 1) the imperative mood manifests the “Subject-Object duality” of the poet, with the “SubjectTao” representing the poet loving nature and the “ObjectTao” representing the poet reluctant to leave the officialdom, and that interrogative mood, declarative mood and high value modal operators are used to show that “SubjectTao” is admonishing “ObjectTao” to leave the officialdom and return to nature; 2) action, mental and relational processes for ecological attributes indicate the poet’s conation from human to nature, affection for and cognitive assimilation to nature; 3) “SubjectTao”, nonhuman organism and physical places functioning as theme demonstrates discoursal ecology.

The Inherent Behavior Logic and Practical Path for Rural Mutual Support for the Aged

Abstract:
Rural mutual support for the aged is one of the elderly care modes in the Chinese context. With the reciprocal support value from traditional Chinese culture, the rural life, which is based on geographical relationship and consanguinity, provides possibilities of mutual support for the aged. The nature of rural mutual support is the combination of self-support and reciprocal support, which reflects the concept of social capital theory. There are three core dimensions of social capital, including social networks, social resources and social trust. In line with these three dimensions, this study explores the inherent behavior logic, the dilemma and the possible practical path of the rural mutual support for the aged. Meanwhile, this study proposes that mutual support for the aged could be promoted in the future by the engagement of multiple service providers, the improvement of the service providing system and the enhancement of the social trust of the elderly by displaying the strengths of traditional Chinese culture. Overall, the social capital theory provides a conceptualized foundation to explain the nature of rural mutual support for the aged, and further improvement measures, which are conducive to the development the rural aged-care service and the promotion of the elderly well-being in rural areas.

Abstract:
Advancing the modernization of the national governance system and capacity on the rule of law is an important part of Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of law, which profoundly illustrates that the rule of law is an important basis for the modernization of national governance. As a clear embodiment of Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of law, Civil Code highlights the essential characteristics of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics and escorts the modernization of national governance on the track of rule of law. The norms of the Civil Code vigorously promote socialist core values, display Chinese characteristics, and strengthen the value guidance for the modernization of national governance. The norms of the Civil Code complete the systematic construction of civil subjects’ private rights and interests through the classification of civil rights and interests so as to perfect the private rights system for the modernization of national governance. By revising a large number of legal provisions concerning property rights and contracts, the norms of the Civil Code encourages market transactions, maintain transaction security and construct an effective transaction order for the modernization of national governance. By adding or improving many civil legal systems, the norms of the Civil Code promotes the systematization and scientification of civil legislation and provide institutional support for the modernization of national governance.

An Exploration of the Internal Logic of Andre Gorz’s Eco-critical Theory

Abstract:
The eco-critical theory of Andre Gorz presents a relatively rigorous and profound internal logical path, that is, starting from the criticism of traditional socialism, it analyzes the internal consistency between traditional socialism and capitalism in the level of economic rationality and redefines socialism with ecological rationality as the core. Taking the ecological criticique of capitalism as the logical mainline, the paper criticizes the division of labor, science and technology, economic rationality, and alienated consumption of capitalism from the perspective of ecology, and reveals the capitalist system root of ecological crisis. Taking “non-worker-non-class” and the new social movement as the logical medium, this paper analyzes the disappearance of the traditional revolutionary subject and explores the new revolutionary subject. Taking the construction of ecological socialism as the logical aim, this paper expounds on the path of constructing eco-critical theory based on criticizing ecological capitalism. To clarify the internal logic of Gorz’s eco-critical theory is of great value to systematically comb out the overall framework of Gorz’s thought system and grasp the whole ecological Marxism. But fundamentally speaking, Gorz’s ecological criticique of capitalism has not surpassed Marx’s political economy criticism of capitalism, and the ecological socialism constructed by Gorz has a strong utopian color.

Abstract:
Engels’ thoughts of the relation between human and nature are extremely important parts of the Ecological View of Marxism, which is discussed in detail in Dialectics of Nature. Through this book we can see Engels’ thought deeply on how to correctly deal with the relationship between human and nature, which provides guidance for modern society to solve various conflicts. At the same time, it’s a caution to people: we should realize the dialectical unity between human and nature, not only to see the independence of human and nature, but also to see they are dependent on each other and keep developing in a harmony relationship. Only by deeply understanding the essence of the relationship between human and nature, can we truly understand the theory of “Two Reconciliation”, “Two Improvement” and “Natural Retaliation”, and make the leap from the kingdom of necessity to the kingdom of freedom come true, and then achieve the free and all-round development of human, in the all of the world.
