Abstract

Abstract

The prepositional phrase as the Qualifier is the commonest type in the English nominal group.Preposition in Systemic Functional Linguistics is regarded as the mini verb realizing minor process.This study is a systemic functional syntactic analysis of the English nominal group with of-phrase as the Qualifier, attempting to explore the specific process types that of realizes.Besides, whether of functions as a structure marker or a minor process in the nominal group is also investigated.The lexical factors may influence of to perform as a structure maker or as specific processes in the English nominal group.
