The Institute of History of Metallurgy and Materials in University of Science and Technology Beijing, one of the earliest institutes making a specialized study of history of science and technology, has gained a series of groundbreaking achievements in the field of Chinese archaeometallurgy.The paper traces the early creation and development of this institute, through interviews with Professor Qiu Liang-hui who is one of the early founders of the research institute.

The "negative" in Hegel's dialectics is not in the agreement with its mysterious form, but its intrinsic revolutionary elements are adopted by Engels.Hegels' logic and historical research methods are extended in Engel's natural dialectics, from the speculativeness to historical reality, thereby the status of human being is established in the "dialectics" and "nature", and the natural dialectics becomes one of the subjects of "human" philosophy, not of "spiritual" philosophy.As a practical and open philosophical discipline, the vitality of natural dialectics is rest with the speculative kernel derived from Hegel's philosophy, and even in the contemplation of natural being.

Expanding the research on Modality, Systemic Functional Linguistics distinguishes two basic types of Modality, namely Modalization and Modulation, in terms of different speech roles involved.With Modulation, it corresponds to Deontic Modality defined in logic, and this paper is firstly to review the discussions of this type of Modality within SFL, and then, combined with Bakhtin's Heteroglossia, to carry out an analysis of Deontic Modality in 3 editorials on the Copenhagen Climate Meeting, with the focus on the construal of attitude and stance, the functional tenor of editorials.

With our country's policy of reform and opening, the migration from the countryside to cities witnesses a great change of the speech communities.As any other word in communication, the addressing terms for one's father are also involved in a process of variation and change.By using questionnaire and observation, this paper studies the variation and change of the terms used by the local people of Kangbao County in Hebei province since 1970 to address their fathers, underlining the hidden historical social factors.A pattern of variation and change is found: Potential prestigious forms will take the place of the non-prestigious forms, while the replaced word will become one of the common varieties in verbal communication.

The Event Structure Metaphor is one of the most important conceptual metaphors proposed by Lakoff.This paper analyses conceptual metaphors of life from the aspect of the Event Structure Metaphor and subdivides them into three groups, i.e.the location-version, the object-version and the dual-version.Linguistic materials are collected from the Four Tragedies by Shakespeare in English and Dream of the Red Chamber in Chinese.This paper focuses on the conventional metaphors of life, leaving the creative ones to be investigated later.

In western and Chinese early civilization, morality and law are produced in a separate, autonomically and heteronomously in essence, but in the angle of providing order and establishing regulation, both basically are harmonious and unified, mixing without same, at the same time, permeating each other and acting jointly.The compatibility of the morality and law is in common in the early civilization, especially in the legalization of morality.There exists big difference between the morality and law in western world and China.These, cultural value, personal behavior, economic form, the relation between individual and society, are the important factors causing the difference.The study of the relationship between morality and law in early civilization will provide useful reference for examining the contemporary relationship between them.

Thomas Wolfe (1900-1938) was a major American novelist of the early 20th century.With his“encyclopedic” exploration of life and complex emotional world of confusion and pursuit, affliction and sensation, he displayed the connotation and spiritual essence beyond the southern characteristics of regional culture and formed his own distinctive style.Reviewing and summarizing the research achievements on Thomas Wolfe from the translations, introductions and publications in China, we know that research on Wolfe in China is at an initial stage.We have translated and published Wolfe’s main works, but we haven’t made a thorough study and further explanation of his thoughts and main works from the aspects of culture, religion, language and writing techniques.Compared with the studies on Thomas Wolfe abroad, an in-depth study is needed.

There are obvious differences in special higher educational resource allocation in different regions of China for the different conditions.This paper mainly compares the campus building areas per capita, per fixed assets and pupil-teacher ratio during 2006-2010 in the subordinate universities of the Ministry by the difference measuring instruments of range, range ratio, standard deviation and variance coefficient.It can be found that the differences of the campus building areas per capita and per fixed assets are all becoming reduced between provinces, cities and regions, while the differences of the pupil-teacher ratio is becoming increased between provinces, cities and regions.

In the circumstances that China's economic growth is increasingly subject to the constraints of consumer demand, education consumption receives increasing attention.Consumption of adult higher education, as an important part of the higher education consumption and the main core of the national system of lifelong education, plays an important role in economic growth.Specifically speaking, the growth of adult higher education consumption can directly stimulate the increase of national income.And furthermore, adult higher education consumption can improve the ability to apply technology and comprehensive quality of human capital, realize its increase in value, effectively facilitate the rising of conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements, and finally promote economic growth in a long-term, sustained and steady way.This paper does an in-depth quantitative analysis to the correlation of adult higher consumption and economic growth with a statistical software.The analysis of the actual situation in Guangdong, Anhui and Gansu provinces, from an empirical perspective, proves the necessity to increase investment in adult higher education and promote higher education consumption.

There exists a huge gap and sharp contrast between the theoretical advocacy and realistic lack of mediator neutrality.Due to the influence of many factors involved in the mediation practice, even though a mediator may possess firm neutrality belief, he may lose his ground consciously or sub-consciously during the whole process.Different mediators and parties have different understandings towards neutrality, which may cause unnecessary disputes and controversies in mediation practice.It will then be very difficult for the mediator to carry out mediation process, especially when the parties have always been the final judge about mediator neutrality.To the mediators, neutrality is more a kind of technique than an attitude.Apart from the sense of neutrality bared in one's inner heart, neutrality also depends on the mediator's capability to handle the detailed problems in the mediation process, which in turn affects the parties' attitude towards the mediator's neutrality.The neutrality principle requires a lot about the mediator's communication skills.

Ethical compromise of administrative behavior is a temporary choice of the lower value behaviors in which the administrative subject who confronts the choice space of value is constrained by pressure.Its harm is mainly in the following four aspects: denying the administrator's virtue, destroying the normal organizational institution, creating a negative organizational culture, and lowering the legality of the public administration.The reasons of ethical compromise of administrative behavior include administrative ethical dilemma as objective realities, restrictions from superiors and organization, and the lack of ethical decision-making skills of administrators.To eliminate ethical compromise of administrative behavior, we should model the transcendence identities, establish the moralized institution, take the systematic and effective remedial measures, improve the ethical decision-making skills of administrators and build an ethical environment.

This paper makes a study of the current situations of internal control of the listed banks in China.Based on the multiple regression analysis of 42 annual reports and their business performance in 210 information disclosures of internal control of 14 listed banks from 2007 to 2009,the result shows that: among the five carriers of information disclosure of internal control,the corporate governance structure,the director's report and the supervisor's report have little significance to the information disclosure of internal control of the banks and their business performance;so does the accounting firm's audit report to the business performance of the banks;however,the information disclosure of internal control in self assessment report is strongly related to the bank's performance,and this means that the operating risks of the banks are lower,and their performance is at the better side.Finally,the paper reveals the problems in the information disclosure of internal control of the banks in China,and provides some suggestions.

As the father of Chinese journalism, Wang Tao not only established Xunhuan Daily, the first daily created by Chinese, but also wrote a lot of political essays to advocate the early modern bourgeois reform.He pointed out that China should initiate political reform in quest for national strength, using the western technology to attain the goal of establishing a powerful and prosperous China.His reform program referred to four aspects: in political, Qing government should establish a parliamentary system and constitutional monarchy;in economy, the government should develop trade and economy to strengthen national strength;in military, the government should carry out comprehensive military reform to increase military power;in diplomacy, the government should send diplomatic envoys, and boost diplomatic with national power.Using the western culture as a mirror to study the Chinese feudal society, he found a series of drawbacks, so he developed an overall early modern Chinese bourgeois reform program with the western culture as a reference, whose influence could never be underestimated.

Zhang Zhizhong involved in the peace negotiation of the Kuomintang Party with the Chinese Communist Party for several times.His thought changed, including the thought of the Kuomintang Party and the Chinese Communist Party, and he expressed his outrage at The Kuomintang Party for the departure from the Three People's Principles.The long-term united front policy of the Communist Party of China inspired the final change of Zhang Zhizhong's position.At the same time, this is the result of Zhang Zhizhong's further understanding of the Communist Party of China.He loved the country and the people and he was very disappointed to the practice of the Kuomintang.Zhang Zhizhong made a contribution for the peace and truce in China.During the Chongqing negotiation, he did his best to bring about the agreement of the parties and to protect the safety of Mao Zedong.In addition, he made a contribution for the peaceful liberation of Xinjiang during the War of Liberation.
