Abstract

Abstract

Since the inception of WTO, its success has been accompanied by an increase in strains in outside pressures and within the WTO. The former comes from the challenges posed by the failures of the developing countries to participate effectively in WTO decision, NGO's enthusiasm in participation in WTO affairs and the rise in regionalism while the latter is embodied in the difficulties that WTO has met in performing its main functions such as negotiations, implementation of its agreements and disputes settlement. All the difficulties reflect some chief challenges facing the international community, thus it is impossible to overcome the difficulties in short time. Though the Doha Round negotiation has been launched, its prospect will never be too optimistic.
