Abstract

Abstract

After the Paris Peace Conference, the powers contradicted fiercely in the Far East and the Pacific, especally in China. Britain thought that she could meet the challenge of Japan in the sphere of her position in China. From the relations between Britain and the Peking Government, we can find Britain's foreign policy towards China: seeking her interests with all kinds of means is the most important policy in China; seeking the unity of China in form; not proppinging the puppet in China; she struggled fiercely with Japan and America, certaintly, sometimes coordinated with them.
