Tea and Coffee: The Comparison of the Chinese-Western Way of Thinking

  • Received Date: 2016-09-10
  • Differences in ways of thinking are the important causes of cultural differences, and the differences between tea culture and coffee culture may be due to the different Chinese and Western ways of thinking. It is a good way for us to understand the culture of tea and coffee by exploring the different ways of thinking that behind the Chinese and Western cultures. The tea culture represents a holistic, processual, relational and intuitive thinking, as tea transcends its natural attributes and becomes a carrier of Chinese traditional moral and spiritual ideals; while the Western coffee culture manifests a binary, linear and logical thinking, and coffee is considered as an object to be researched and used scientifically and rationally, and itself seldom be taken as a intermediary for value bearer.
