2017, 33(6): 1-7.
Abstract(346) PDF(3)
Abstract:
Based on the authentic data retrieved from Taobao.com,this paper takes a trans-disciplinary perspective and applies Appraisal Theory to examine the distribution pattern of attitudinal resources in customers'remarks at e-commercial customer service center and the realization of interpersonal meaning. The theory of consumptive psychology is then employed to explore how attitudinal resources are utilized to influence potential customers'psychology and purchasing orientation, with an aim to present some constructive suggestions for them to make rational decisions when shopping online. The results indicate that, among the three categories of attitudinal resources, appreciation resources take up the largest proportion in the customers'positive, neutral and negative remarks, followed in turn by affect and judgment resources.Attitudinal resources are realized at both the lexical and clausal levels. They can provide potential customers with information on goods and services and are thus closely related to potential customers'psychology and purchasing orientation. When shopping online, potential customers should be rational in handling attitudinal resources so as to make rational purchase decisions.

ZHANG Hong-yan, LI Man-liang
2017, 33(6): 40-44.
Abstract(450) PDF(5)
Abstract:
This paper analyzes and describes the Chinese nominal group with the classifier phrases/measure phrases as the modifier based on the Sydney Grammar and the Cardiff Grammar in Systemic Functional Linguistics. The analysis indicates that the Sydney Grammar analysis is same to that of the Cardiff Grammar in describing the Chinese nominal group having quantifying and determining relationships between the modifier and the head. While in describing the Chinese nominal group having the appositive relationship between the modifier and the head and having two different meanings, the Cardiff Grammar analysis is clearer than that of the Sydney Grammar, and the former can further reflect the systemic functional syntactic principle—"Form is the realization of meaning".

Abstract(339) PDF(4)
Abstract:
The problem of homogeneity is widespread in the universities'journals of humanities and social sciences, and the construction of special columns is one of the effective ways to change the status. With the "Functional Linguistics Studies" of Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing (Social Sciences Edition) as an example, the paper makes a study on the necessity, feasibility and the methods of the construction of special columns from the perspective of systemic functional linguistics(SFL).We believe that the construction of the special columns is an effective way for the development of the journals. The closer the column is to the text, the more obvious the characteristics are.The construction of special columns must be based on the context, such as culture, editor, academic resources etc.And the paper reveals that the special columns as subsystems are made up of numerous academic texts after a long time, and the more innovative the texts are, the quicker the characteristics of columns are to be formed.
Modernism without Borders
Ian McLean
2017, 33(6): 52-60.
Abstract(242) PDF(3)
Abstract:
The imperialist era is over but its culture of modernism again holds our interest. The new postcolonial arrangements of power have left us wondering about a possible non-Western history of modernism and what it might mean. With the coming of the new epistemology "the contemporary", the postcolonial critique established the ground for it, and the blueprint for Modernites Plurielles was depicted, modernism was regarded as "art without borders".In Hegelian fashion, Enwezor argues that African contemporary art is not a postmodernist "rejection of modernity and modernism" but, on the contrary, the result of modernity's "teleological unfolding", modernity cannot be disavowed, it can only be worked through.
Economic Achievements of Postrevolutionary Georgia: Myths and Reality
Vladimer Papava
2017, 33(6): 61-66.
Abstract(386) PDF(3)
Abstract:
The author attempts to show what actual achievements have resulted from economic reforms carried out in Georgia since the 2003 "Rose Revolution," and to debunk some fundamental myths surrounding these reforms. This analysis leads him to conclude that Georgia can be regarded as a symbiosis of neoliberalism and neobolshevism rather than as a country of liberal reforms.Georgia is not free from corruption;it has developed new and more complex forms of elite corruption.Georgia is not oriented exclusively toward a European model:the country's leadership has officially declared as one of its goals a "Singaporization" of the national economy; the government is artificially impeding attempts to establish free trade with the European Union. After the war of August 2008, Georgia maintained its economic ties with Russia, including trade relations.
