Abstract

Abstract

Study on western popular culture went through the earlier Levi Doctrine and the Frankfurt School Leavis, and was symbolized by the establishment of the University of Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies in Birmingham University in 1964.It gradually formed a study model of culturalism and structuralism.New understanding to Gramsci's cultural hegemony theory provided a new mode of observation and research perspective.It has important theoretical and practical significance on the contemporary cultural studies and strategic development of the proletarian revolution.
