Abstract

Abstract

Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Technology is a typical representative of the single industrial institutes at the initial stage of new China. The paper summarizes phenomena of education,talent and culture of Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Technology(1952-1966) from five respects of subject construction,talent traning,scientific research,faculty and campus culture. There are 12 phenomena,which include “physical and chemical phenomena” in subject construction, “metallurgical phenomenon”, “mayor phenomenon”, “midwest phenomenon”, “sports team phenomenon” in talent training,“the national science and technology progress award phenomenon” and“1958 phenomenon” in scientific research,“grade inversion phenomenon” and “subject inversion phenomenon” in faculty,“ball phenomenon”,“poetry competition phenomenon” and“the film phenomenon” in campus culture.
