The learning ideology of classical Chinese literary criticism was gradually getting deeper and more precious in traditional science of catalogue, which is an important basis on which the history of Chinese literal criticism in its modern form can be founded. This thesis explores the track of the differentiation and evolvement of the classical critical works on verse and prose in traditional science of catalogue:collections of works (ZongJi)-history of literature (WenShi)-critical works on verse (ShiPing) and critical works on prose (WenPing). It also analyses how they were cleared up, classified and studied in traditional science of catalogue, through which it tries to roughly outline the research of the history of criticism before the 20th century, so as to present the development of its learning ideology.
