Differences in Using “I” and “We” in Book Reviews

  • Using a corpus of 30 English book reviews on linguistics, this paper studies the differences in using "I" and "we" in book reviews adopting both qualitative and quantitative methods.The results show that book review writers mostly use "I" to make evaluative arguments, whereas "we" is mostly used to objectively introduce the book.In a word, the authorial power realized by "I" is greater than "we".
