2021, 37(3): 227-232.
Abstract(446) PDF(58)
Abstract:
The professional development level of university teachers is closely related to the quality of university personnel training. Teacher professional development mainly includes the continuous improvement and improvement of teachers' professional spirit, professional theory and professional skills and knowledge. Because of the characteristics of engineering discipline, the core of the professional development of university engineering teachers should be the growth of technical knowledge. Technical knowledge is an important part of the knowledge system of engineering teachers in universities. It has the characteristics of practicality, perception, intentionality and context. There are three ways to acquire technical knowledge of university engineering teachers: “follow” learning in the “scene”; interact and feel in the “context”;understand and share in “conversations”.

2021, 37(3): 233-238.
Abstract(340) PDF(27)
Abstract:
General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on fostering aspiration and wisdom implicates rich philosophical principles of Marxism, as we hold that labor is the essential attribute of human beings, based on reality in doing everything, give play to the reaction of social consciousness on social existenceon, use the basic principle that internal causes determine external causes, and view with a developing insight. In practice, we should respect the subjective consciousness and pioneering spirit of the people lifted out of poverty, make clear the problems in fostering the aspiration and wisdom of the impoverished, and motivate their capacity for self-development. We should carry forward the spirit of poverty alleviation, help the poor to acquire knowledge and arouse their aspiration, provide greater support in education, break the intergenerational transmission of poverty, and ensure a smooth transition from poverty alleviation to rural revitalization.

CHEN Ming-fang, CAO Jun-feng
2021, 37(3): 239-246.
Abstract(401) PDF(38)
Abstract:
In the dimensions of Systemic Functional Grammar, the application of the ecological analytical framework of discourse is conducive to the interpretation of the eco-pattern and the ecosophy implied in the lines of Emily Dickinson's nature poem What Mystery Pervades a Well, as well as its significance to mankind. It is found that there are three types of transitivity process in this poem which mainly involve the relations of “human and nature”, “nature and nonhuman organism”. Nature in this poem is described mysterious and scary to humans. In addition, the image of nature constructed in the poem is highlighted by the exclamative clauses, and the words with different degrees of modality value are used to imply that nature is also unfathomable. Besides, there are two main participants functioning as theme: nonhuman organism and physical places. And the frequent use of reference is to personify “nature” and “the specific plants” as “her” and “he” respectively. All these mean that nature should be respected. Moreover, by singing high praise for “the grass” and “the sedge” which give no evidence of fear towards nature, the poet indicates that all human beings should follow the natural rules rather than infringe upon nature.
A New Horizon for Ecolinguistics: From Green Grammar to Ecological Grammar
ZHOU Wen-juan
2021, 37(3): 247-253.
Abstract(539) PDF(53)
Abstract:
This paper attempts to compare and contrast green grammar and ecological grammar as two newly emerged strands of grammar in ecolinguistics. It is observed that those two grammatical strands as two umbrella terms differ in terms of their proposals of notions, definitions, methods, and ecolinguistic strands, while they have the historical background, the critical goal, and the future horizon in common as well. This paper does not try to distinguish the better grammar of the two, but to throw light on the development of eco-grammar analysis in the context of integration and development of ecolinguistics. Ecolinguistics in the post-epidemic time can devote to the construction of a grammar of health.
The Construction of Ecological Features of Environmental Discourse: As Exemplified in the “China Daily News Corpus of Climate Change”
LIU Yan
2021, 37(3): 254-263.
Abstract(608) PDF(60)
Abstract:
As a type of discourse related to natural environment or environmental problems, environmental discourse has been widely studied in academia. Ecological discourse analysis, a research perspective of ecolinguistics, has been gaining importance in the construction of ecological features of ecologically related discourse or discourse of any theme or type. Corpus-assisted or corpus-aided discourse analysis, a positivistic perspective, is a general practice in discourse analysis. Through the combination of the two perspectives, a corpus-assisted/aided ecological discourse analysis, serves as a new approach to the construction of ecological features of discourse. Against the backdrop of climate change across the world, the ecological discourse analysis is enacted closely in line with the ecosophy which integrates the ecological dimension of a “community with shared future for mankind” on the one hand, and “man and nature are in the same biotic community” as an ecological view of nature on the other hand. With the help of specialized corpus tools, this study compiles a “China Daily News Corpus of Climate Change” (with 1 main corpus with 4 subcorpora), analyzing the data in terms of the wordlists of the subcorpora, the keyword lists of the 4 subcopora, and the concordance of the key word in context (i.e. “climate change”) and its collocations in the whole corpus. As a type of environmental discourse, China Daily's news of climate change turns out to be ecologically beneficial due to its conveyance and construction of a harmonious relationship between man and nature; explication of the newspaper's attitude toward issues involving climate change; and emphasis on the Chinese position as well as the global vision.
The Connotative Features and Functional Purpose of Language Choice
WANG Yue-ping, DU Min
2021, 37(3): 264-272.
Abstract(452) PDF(26)
Abstract:
Language choice is the focus of theoretical linguistics and applied linguistics. Language choice refers to the way in which the user constructs words and sentences, within psychological and grammatical norms of “conventions” to express meaning and doing things. Based on the theory of sociolinguistics, pragmatics and systemic-functional linguistics about the interaction among language, user and society, the paper first argues that language choice is related to the selective use and social transmission of alternative languages and variants, and is characterized by communicative, contextual and conventional characteristics. Secondly, language choice has the social functions of expressing ideas and taking effect by words. By choosing different languages or words to conform to the normative meaning, discourse meaning is generated to realize the functions of expression and effectiveness.

Analysis on the Standardization Path of the Written Testimony: Based on the Empirical Study of 218 Judgments
LIU Xue-zai, XU Ying-zhao
2021, 37(3): 273-281.
Abstract(273) PDF(24)
Abstract:
Empirical research shows that there are difficulties in the application of written testimony of witnesses who do not appear in court in cross examination, examination and certification. The concrete performance is that the rate of acceptance is low, the reason of court authentication is one-sided and fuzzy, the rule of evidence review is applied wrongly, and there are different opinions on whether they have the qualification of evidence . The reason is that the written testimony provided by the witness who did not appear in court has natural credibility defects, the private subject's self written testimony lacks obvious recognizable signs, the academic circles have differences on this kind of evidence's admissibility, the direct verbal principle is overemphasized, and the value of the written principle is improperly devalued. In the transitional period when the system of witness appearing in court tends to be perfect and the litigation environment changes qualitatively, it is necessary to standardize the rules of production, cross examination, examination and determination of written testimony, and enhance the credibility and admissibility of written testimony, so as to activate its due evidential value and alleviate the contradiction between high utilization rate and low acceptance rate of written testimony.
Coping with the Younger Age of Crime: From the Perspective of Lowering the Age of Criminal Responsibility
QU Shu-yang
2021, 37(3): 282-289.
Abstract(438) PDF(30)
Abstract:
In recent years, the frequent incident of juvenile “crime according to the law” has led to social anger and anxiety. Calls for lowering the age of criminal responsibility keep rising, and the “Amendment to Criminal Law (XI)” also reduce the statutory minimum age of criminal responsibility individually. However, the proposal of amending the law has not been properly assessed scientifically and fully discussed theoretically. Under the guidance of China's juvenile criminal policy, according to the limitation of criminal penalty, the particularity of juveniles, the diversity of relief and the regularity of the age of criminal responsibility, the age of criminal responsibility should not be reduced as a mean to punish the younger age of criminal responsibility. Under the background of decreasing juvenile crime rate year by year, further clarifying the applicable conditions for special remedial education, and rationally applying educational disciplinary measures, and increase guardians' responsibility for criminal supervision, and balancing the boundary between punishment and protection are basic thought to deal with the younger age of crime.

WU Rui-jia
2021, 37(3): 290-298.
Abstract(302) PDF(18)
Abstract:
Featured by scientific analysis and methodological precision, quantitative legislative evaluation has been widely endorsed by legal researchers and professionals at home and abroad. However, existing implementation of quantifying legislative evaluation in China suggests that various gaps exist between its conceptualization and operationalization, manifested in numerous errors in the process of legislative evaluation. For example, the tendency of “de-instrumentalization” and the confusion of basic arithmetic application scenarios, common data collection errors and improper introduction of performance assessment tools in the practice of assessment have brought many obstacles to the application of legislative quantitative assessment. In this regard, the legislative evaluators should correctly judge the premise of the application of the legislative quantitative evaluation norm and avoid the improper application of the legislative quantitative evaluation method.

LIU Wen-bo
2021, 37(3): 299-306.
Abstract(660) PDF(45)
Abstract:
Identity is an important indicator to examine the social integration and citizenization of the floating population, it's also the key to realize the “urbanization of people”. This article systematically sorts out and summarizes the domestic research literatures on the identity of the floating population from four dimensions: the definition and measurement of the identity of the floating population, the status quo of the identity of the floating population and the influencing factors of the identity of the floating population and the influence of the identity on the floating population. In the future, researchers should pay more attention to the edge identity and dual identity, strengthen the analysis of the urban registered floating population and the household registration migration population, pay more attention to the impact of subjective variables on the identity of migrants, and strengthen the research on the consequences of identity. In addition, researches should also strengthen theoretical induction and improve the overall theoretical level.

Ai Siqi's Explanation and Propaganda of Reform Our Study in Yan'an Period
LI Shi-qin
2021, 37(3): 314-322.
Abstract(315) PDF(17)
Abstract:
In the rectification movement of the Yan'an academic style, Ai Siqi, focusing on the spiritual core of Mao Zedong's Reform Our Study, insists on the unity of learning reason and politics, constructive and critical, knowledge and value, deeply discusses the essence and root of subjectivism, analyzes the two forms and connections of subjectivism, enriches the theoretical connotation of “seeking truth from the facts” and “shooting the arrow at the target”, and puts forward the method of forming materialist thought. In the new stage of development, Marxist theory workers should adhere to the realism and Sinicization of Marxist theoretical research, strengthen the proletarian stand and the idea of learning for the people, and consciously apply dialectical materialism world outlook and methodology to promote the interpretation and propaganda of the Party's theoretical innovation achievements.
Grass-roots Government Behavior in the Modernization of Rural Governance: An Analytical Perspective of Rural Tax Reform
LI Jian-yong, ZHANG Jian-ying
2021, 37(3): 323-330.
Abstract(360) PDF(21)
Abstract:
Since the reform and opening up, the relationship between the state and farmers, and the relationship between the grass-roots government and the rural society have been greatly adjusted, and the behavior logic of the grass-roots government has also changed profoundly. Before and after the reform of taxes and fees, the behavior of grass-roots governments in central and western China has undergone three stages of change: control and absorption-loose and suspension-service and coordination. The realization of rural governance is effective, which depends not only on the system innovation of grass-roots government, but also on the fundamental demand of grass-roots system transformation. In the stage of modernization development, grass-roots government behavior in central and western still shows many discomfort, such as deviation of governance goal, dislocation of interactive role, dispersion of executive behavior and so on. In order to effectively correct behavior deviation, grass-roots government in central and western should focus on strengthening system construction, innovating assessment mode and optimizing governance structure in the future.

Normalization in Self-retranslation: A Case Study of Contraction in English Versions of Tales of Hulan River by Howard Goldblatt
ZHOU Rong-juan, ZHAO Qiu-rong
2021, 37(3): 339-346.
Abstract(741) PDF(76)
Abstract:
Contraction is a typical feature of spoken English, but how is it presented in translated texts? Based on corpus of the first translation and the self-retranslation of Tales of Hulan River by Howard Goldblatt, the study analyzes contraction in different translated versions to explore the characteristics of the translator's self-retranslation. It finds that contraction is more frequent and the variety of contracted forms is larger in the self-retranslation, and closer to the pattern and norm in non-translated English. The wide use of contractions is related to the norm of the target language and the expectancy norm, illustrating the impact of normalization and the translator's subjectivity. The study suggests that Goldblatt's self-retranslation shows an obvious tendency of normalization and reflects the translator's faithfulness and reader-centered approach.
