The Exemplification and Legal Regulation of Cooperative Principle in Courtroom Discourse——Taking Bo Xilai's Utterance in the First Instance as an Example

According to cooperative principle, participants of a conversation need to comply with the purpose of conversation so as to continue a meaningful communication.Although some scholars have doubted and corrected the cooperative principle, yet through the analysis of the utterance of Bo Xilai in courtroom trial it is quite clear how cooperative principle works.In the application of courtroom trial, the neutrality of cooperative principle is of significance because judicial officers need to identify the motivation and supporting evidence of real cooperative and non-cooperative participation instead of being confused by the language skills, while facilitating beneficial cooperation and preventing malicious cooperation.
