Abstract

Abstract

As a sagacious thinker in the period of Wuxu Movement(1898),Tan Sitong tried hard to mingle the academic ideas of all times both home and abroad to construct his ideological system,one of which being historiographical ideas. Tan’ s historiographical ideas that consist mainly of historical evolutionary theory, the theory that“free will decides history” and “civilian history” ideas are rather important in the history of modern Chinese historiography.
