The Construction of Global Competence of Chinese Youth in the New Era under the Background of Great Changes Unseen in a Century

  • Currently, the world is undergoing accelerated great changes unseen in a century, and the characteristics of the younger generation are experiencing significant shifts. Grounded in the strategic demands of high-quality development and high-level opening-up, the construction of global competence of Chinese youth in the new era has become a critical proposition concerning the overall national development and the grand cause of national rejuvenation. Marx’s theory of world intercourse provides the theoretical foundation for building global competence of Chinese youth. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s strategic vision for youth engagement in international relations clarifies the ideological guidance for cultivating global competence of China’s youth in the new era. Drawing on beneficial international experience, it is essential to ground efforts in the roots of China’s outstanding traditional culture and the CPC’s historical experience in leading youth movements. Efforts should focus on four key dimensions: Shaping ideals and values, fostering global knowledge and international perspectives, enhancing cross-cultural communication and practical abilities, and strengthening participation in global governance and innovative contributions. This will help cultivate young talents who embody both patriotic devotion and a sense of humanitarian concern for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, thereby contributing youthful energy to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
