  • Conversation analysis is a discipline concerned with uncovering the organizational regularities of human social conduct in talk-in-interaction through close analysis of naturally occurring data. Its central research question is: what is the organizational structure of social activities or actions accomplished in and through talk-in-interaction? It adopts naturally-occurring talk-in-interaction as its primary data, which are observed and analyzed by researchers from the participants’ perspective, employing a bottom-up, inductive approach to recover the social norms oriented to by participants and coordinately achieved in interaction.
