Challenges and Responses to the Certification and Operation System of Blue Carbon Trading

  • Restarting national greenhouse gas voluntary emission reduction trading market is an important opportunity for blue carbon to be included in the voluntary carbon market, but the blue carbon trading system is still in the initial stage of development and lacks perfect supporting measures. It is faced with several problems, such as function missing of trading rules, pricing mechanism anomy, lack of trading methods and imperfect regulatory system. In order to ensure the operation of blue carbon trading under legal regulation and build an open, transparent and predictable blue carbon trading system, it is necessary to enhance the function of blue carbon trading, standardize the pricing mechanism, promote the diversity of trading methods and improve the regulatory system of verification institutions to optimize the operation system of blue carbon trading, so as to build a rule system for integrating blue carbon trading into the voluntary carbon market.
