This paper reviews the tough track College Chinese has gone through since the course was reopened in China's universities and colleges and the various occurrences that took place on the course name in a nation-developing background. It is found that the weak confidence in the name reflects the inadequate cognition of the ever-changing requirements of the times in which it survives. The College Chinese circles have been unable to meet actively with the challenges, adjust themselves when needed, and go to perfection. This paper suggests that only through getting strong by itself can the course earn a loud and distinct name, and only through becoming self-strong can College Chinese play its unique and indispensable role in the rise of the Chinese nation.
