The Research on the Cultural Connotation in Luo Han's Legend and the Causes of Its Influence

  • Received Date: 2020-03-10
  • Luo Han was one of the representative figures in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, who had made important contributions such as topography, landscape travel and Buddhist culture and other aspects. The biography of Luo Han in Jin Shu recorded three folktales about Luo Han as follows: Luo Han swallowed the colorful bird, the white finch perch on Luo Han's official residence and orchid and chrysanthemum were in full bloom to welcome his return home when he retired. The image of legends came from the development history and cultural connotation of Luo surname in the pre-Qin period. The root of its influence lied in Luo Han's ability to be a learning both sound in theory and practice, which had been put into practice and set up a new model of scholar bureaucrats' behavior.
