This paper applies the Blending Theory to the exploration of the conceptual integration and the emergent meaning involved in the comprehension of two lines of verse from William Wordsworth's "The Daffodils", and analyzes the pragmatic and discourse function of the emergent meaning, based on which, it presents a contrastive analysis of the five versions of the lines, and formulates the translation technique of "semantic overflowing";and in view of the semantic integration of the core word in the emergent meaning, it formulates another translation technique of "semantic merging".
