Construction of Undergraduate Talents Cultivation in Colleges and Universities from the Perspective of STEM Education

  • With the policy support in revitalizing the country through science and education and the clear goal of higher education reform, this paper analyzes the connotation of STEM education and its application in talents training mode of colleges and universities, expounds the significance of integrating STEM education into talents cultivation of colleges and universities. The reform practice of University of Science and Technology Beijing is emphatically combined with talents cultivating mode. The method of constructing the undergraduate talents cultivation of colleges and universities is explored under the perspective of STEM education. By integrating the interdisciplinary, intersectionality, practice and inquiry of STEM, we aim to build a scientific cultivation system for undergraduate talents, enrich the related curriculum modules, deepen the practical teaching mode, develop the enlightenment mode in scientific research for undergraduate talents cultivation, and further innovate the talents cultivation mode. With cultivating innovative talents as the momentum, we will achieve the connotative development of higher education, promote the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines, and enhance Chinese talents’ competitiveness internationally.
