Promoting Cultural Exchanges between China and Foreign Countries in the Cause of Studying Abroad in China —Study and Implement the Spirit of Xi Jinping’s Important Reply to USTB Students

Studying abroad in China is an important part of China’s education opening to the outside world. Since the reform and opening up, especially since socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era, great progress has been made in the cause of studying abroad in China, but there are still problems with unclear overall ideas in promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, which are mainly reflected in: paying more attention to humanistic care, but insufficient ideological and political guidance; paying more attention to form innovation, but the connotation and value are not concise enough; focus on “bringing in”, but “going out” is not enough. In order to give better play to the role of overseas education in enhancing trust, dispelling doubts, facilitating mutual learning in promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and be a pioneer and innovator in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, it is necessary to take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of Xi Jinping’s important reply to the students of USTB as the guide, always follow the principles of adhering to the party’s leadership, basing ourselves on the development path of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, and adhering to the basic principles of openness and inclusiveness, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and making full efforts in the three aspects of building a solid foundation for Chinese cultural self-confidence, condensing value consensus, and innovating carrier methods.
