Abstract:
With the development of the digitalization and the application of the multimedia technology, communication between people is gradually multimodalized, which results in the fact that the research field of discourse analysis is extended from monolanguage to multimodal language encompassing picture, sound, color and video.This paper aims to study how the integrative meaning is construed in a multimodal advertisement based on the theoretical framework of the visual grammar, which is developed by Kress & van Leeuwen from Halliday's systemic functional linguistics.The analysis shows that the integrative meaning can be constructed from the multimodal perspective.It is also found that there exists interactive and complementary relationship between different modes in the written commercial advertising discourse.

Abstract:
This research takes a case study approach to make a multimodal analysis of a college English teacher's intensive English class.The objective is to explore what scaffolding functions the teacher's nonverbal behaviors serve and how language and actions complement each other in fulfilling the scaffolding functions.The findings indicate that the teacher's nonverbal behaviors such as gesture, facial expressions, posture and movement in the classroom mainly serve affective scaffolding functions and the teacher we observe can make good use of different scaffolding functions of language and action to serve both pedagogical and social functions.

Digital technology provides new tools for discourse analysis, including easy and effective ways of transcribing, annotating and analyzing multimodal social semiotic and dynamic discourse.This paper introduces the use of computer software in annotating, describing and analyzing different social semiotic modalities, such as language, sound and visual image.It also shows how software can manipulate video discourse in different ways, such as segmentation, summarization and searching.In this age when discourse is getting digitalized and complex, researchers should utilize digital technology more proactively to describe and explain multimodal discourse more effectively and thoroughly.

This paper conducts a cognitive study of a multimodal discourse in order to provide a new focus on dynamic process of integrative meaning construction of the metaphorical multimodal discourse.Based on the generalization of features of multimodal metaphor, this paper proposes that the integrative meaning of metaphorical multimodal discourse derives from a complex conceptual blending involved with interplay of metonymy and metaphor.It reveals that the cognitive approach helps to explain the psychological motivations for the persuasive and aesthetic function.

Both in urban and rural areas, peasant workers are in a "political marginal man" status.Generally speaking, the political participation of peasant workers is few, but for different peasant workers, their participation in politics is different, and such difference is affected by various factors.This paper, through the establishment of logistic regression model, analyzes the impact of factors of socio-economic status, social interaction, organizational, sense of political participation and social recognition on political participation in the inflow areas.The results imply that the variable of socio-economic status explains the difference of political participation the best, followed by variables of organizational, sense of political participation and social recognition;the variable of social interaction explains the difference of political participation the worst.

Hayek absorbed the knowledge of the Kantian view, considered the rational limit and spontaneous order as the philosophical basis, and inherited the British tradition of classical liberalism, defined freedom as "Independent of the arbitrary will of others".Hayek advocated for freedom under the rule of law, and used the meta-legal doctrine to judge the rule of law as the supreme criterion standard.On the basis of the discourse of the relationship between freedom and equality, democracy, Hayek stressed that the equality and greater freedom can be protected well under the democratic rule of law, and thus demonstrated that it is necessary to limit properly the governmental power.

Kang Youwei had carried successively charges of "counterrevolution" and "incomplete revolution" in the era of Chinese revolution.This was a departure from the fact and a deviation in theory that were caused by struggles among different political views which covered the scientific principle.In essence, facing the same contemporary problem, Kang Youwei and the revolutionary took different paths toward the very same goal.Kang's revolutionary concept emphasized more on a peaceful and gradual change, and it provided a new dimensionality of theoretical thinking and a realistic possibility.

Based on the sample data dating from February 2006 to September 2009, as well as futures' data after March 27 2009 of WR0909, the study found that the hot-rolled and WR0909 had a long-term relevance and could be cross-species hedge.The cross-species hedge which uses the law of the same value is adjusted by the optimal hedge ratio.It not only provides a means of risk aversion for the steel enterprises, but also implements the basic functions of futures market.

There has been a sharp contradiction between dynamic political action with openness and closed legal institution without adaptation from ancient Greek, where life of action and life of meditation started to distinct themselves from each other.For Arendt, the question about the relationship between political action and legal institution is very important since it not only involves with the maintenance of the present political order, but also relates to the realization of human public freedom.As an ancient contradiction, the intense relationship between political actions and legal institution shows itself as the constraint legal institution puts on political action and the anti-constraint from political action.Contrary to the contempt toward political action from the tradition of western political philosophy, Arendt revived the basis of real politics, revealed the relationship between political action and legal institution, and realized the political dream in which the strain between these two powers had been dissolved and human freedom had been realized in the "Institutionalizing the revolutionary spirit" political institution comprehensively.
