Abstract: There are many ways to represent the Rape of Nanking,such as historiography,literature,the film and television,the memorial,etc. For the representation of the Rape of Nanking,we should achieve balance between historical representation and metaphorical representation such as literature,film and television. What's more,the representation should show national disaster,fission of human nature,and can console the people,and rouse national spirit. With the way of fiction and realism,Zhang Henshui's novel River of No Return represented the horrific scene of the Rape of Nanking,and shaped military images such as Sun Zhijian,Jiang Hong,etc. and recreated their patriotism and rebellious spirit which can rouse national spirit.
