Abstract: The conflicts between Indian government and Naxalites have lasted for half a century, involving revolution vs. development, revolt vs. suppression and change vs. stability, and this is also the "Red" and "Green" contradiction faced by many developing countries. Military containment is Indian government's crucial measure to suppress Maoists. In recently Naxalites years, Indian government increases military financial investment, intensifies national security forces and takes advantage of private army. In the practice against Maoists, local government's military organizations and strategies include Greyhounds, Salwa Judum, Special Police Officers, and Fake encounter. Military containment strategies didn't change Indian society's structure fundamentally, so it can't eradicate Naxalites violence. Naxalites movement had profound social and political roots, in essence, it is a revolutionary movement based on ideology.
