Abstract: The ideological and political education, which is a complex system engineering, is one of the most important directions of the current education and teaching reform in colleges and universities. This paper focuses on the ideological and political course of communication principles. The current situation and challenges of the ideological and political course of communication principles are analyzed and summarized. Taking into account the fragmentation, isolation and static problems of the ideological and political education in the course of communication principle, this paper introduces the general system theory to elaborate the characteristics of the ideological and political system for communication principle course, including the integrity, hierarchy, dynamic and time sequence. Furthermore, the ideological and political system of communication principle is constructed.The components of the system are analyzed from the aspect of the interaction and complex relationship. Besides, this paper gives the suggestions and directions for ideological and political education based on the system theory. The introduction of general system theory into the ideological and political education of engineering courses in Colleges and universities can be a beneficial exploration. It provides the promised solutions for improving the effect of Ideological and political education.
