摘要: 文章以近代中国乡土社会的天主教民为对象,将教民在日常生活及义和团运动这两种不同情境下的信仰状态与行为状态结合起来考察,从宗教信仰的形成、发生及其对教民日常生活的影响等三个方面对近代中国乡土社会的天主教民的信仰特征作了一个较为系统的耙梳和剖析,由此揭示中西两种不同的宗教文化在中国下层社会冲突、离合与熔融的过程。

Abstract: Through studying Chinese rural Romanists' belief and behaviors in these two different situations in their daily lives and in the the Yihetuan Movement, the article analyzed the characteristics of the Chinese rural Romanists' faith in modern China from three aspects: (1) How did this faith come into being? (2) Why did native Chinese choose or convert to Catholic Church? (3) How did this faith influence their lives?It revealed the process of contcict, exchange and blend happening between Chinese and Western religious culture in lower social status of China.
