A Systemic Functional Syntactic Analysis of the “V+to+V” Construction in English

摘要: 文章从系统功能句法的角度分析英语中的“V+to+V”结构中两个动词的关系。本文区分了四类“V+to+V”结构,并就动词之间的关系问题进行了探讨。本文的分析从形式入手,但研究的重点在于语义和功能。本文也探讨了动词词组与过程类型体现的关系问题。Abstract: This paper takes a systemic functional approach to the syntactic analysis of the "V+to+V" construction in English.The analysis indicates that there are a number of semantic relations between the two verbs (verbal groups) although they share the same syntactic form of "V+to+V".The analysis of different combinations in the "V+to+V" construction shows that a meaning-based approach to syntactic analysis has its advantages in exploring the relationship between the verbal group and its function in realizing meaning.
