Abstract: As a typical ambiguous Chinese resultative construction,Zhui-lei construction has three interpretations,namely the subject-oriented,the object-oriented and the agent-inverted-with-patient ones,hence it is a hot topic in Chinese study.In the past 20 years,although the study of Zhui-lei construction in the generative circle has made great achievements,disputes still remain as on the ways of generation of the V-V compound Zhui-lei.Taking these disputes as a clue,this paper introduced and analyzed several views such as the lexical derivation view,the lexical-syntactic derivation view and the syntactic derivation view.Finally,it summarized the achievements in the relevant field and pointed out several issues that deserve further attention.
