Rising of the “Excluding Confucius” Trend of Thought in Late Qing Dynasty

摘要: 随着科举制度的停废、新式学堂的出现和新式知识群体的形成,儒学赖以生存的社会基础动摇了。那些接受了西学新知的近代新式知识群体,开始用近代民主自由观念及进化论为武器,提出了“订孔”、“无圣”和“排孔”等口号,倡言三纲革命、孔丘革命、祖宗革命,对孔子及儒学的进行了猛烈抨击,掀起了一股“排孔”思潮。这股社会思潮,初步动摇了儒学的独尊地位,成为五四时期更加猛烈的“反孔批儒”思潮之先导。Abstract: With the cancelling of imperial examination, apperance of new schools and new knowlegde crowd, the social foundation of confucianism was shaken. The new intellectuals came up with the slogans, like "confucianism-Modification" "No saint" and "Confucianism-Exclusion", and fiercely criticized confucius and confucianism. This trend of thought shook the status of confu-cianism and paved the way for the coming "Anti-Confucius and Criticism of Confucionism" during the May 4th Movement period.
