Abstract: Since the reform and opening-up policy being implemented,there appear obvious characteristics of the times in the research of social security in china academic circles,such as being initiated later than other countries,imbalance in research contents,relative inferiority in quality,self-containment and partiality in outwards-oriented studies,and popularity and rapidity in its development,etc. It is the related state policies and laws as well as the social development that cause the above characteristics in the research of social security. They also established theoinstitutional and social foundation for its further development.
