Abstract: Thomas Wolfe (1900-1938) was a major American novelist of the early 20th century.With his“encyclopedic” exploration of life and complex emotional world of confusion and pursuit, affliction and sensation, he displayed the connotation and spiritual essence beyond the southern characteristics of regional culture and formed his own distinctive style.Reviewing and summarizing the research achievements on Thomas Wolfe from the translations, introductions and publications in China, we know that research on Wolfe in China is at an initial stage.We have translated and published Wolfe’s main works, but we haven’t made a thorough study and further explanation of his thoughts and main works from the aspects of culture, religion, language and writing techniques.Compared with the studies on Thomas Wolfe abroad, an in-depth study is needed.
