A Study of Discontinuity within the Framework of the Cardiff Grammar

摘要: 不连续现象是英语句法分析中经常出现的问题,不同学派均对此类现象进行过描述和解释。加的夫语法阐述了一套比较全面的功能句法理论,并对不连续现象进行了相应研究。本文探究了加的夫语法中的不连续,揭示了不连续现象的本质,重新对各种类型的不连续进行分类,提出“动词词组”不连续观点,并从功能视角对各种类型的不连续进行描述和阐释。Abstract: Discontinuity is a common phenomenon in English, and many schools have described and explained it from different approaches.The Cardiff Grammar develops a relatively comprehensive theory of functional syntax and it contributes to the study of discontinuity.This paper is dedicated to investigating discontinuity in the Cardiff Grammar, i.e.revealing the nature of discontinuity, making a classification of various types of discontinuity and discussing discontinuity in "verbal groups".Description and discussion of various types of discontinuity are conducted from a functional perspective.
