Abstract: The typological study of the di-transitive construction is horizontal while the study of the central part of the di-transitive semantic map is vertical and microscopic. A mere conclusion of the prototypical di-transitive construction in terms of the transference of some entity from the subject to the object is partial as by so doing only the concrete physical space is taken into account. Therefore, some contrastive details of the abstract use of the di-transitive verb "give" in both Chinese and English are adumbrated here.
