Abstract: The Common People is a kind of character who possesses some special characteristics in both The Journey West and the Buddhism. The idea of the Common People in Buddhism has a great effect on the Chinese novels, especially on the novels of the religious subject. Starting with the characteristics of the Common People in The Journey West, this thesis analyses the novel's feature in the visual field of the Buddhist culture, reveals the religious affection in The Journey West under the given historical conditions.
