Code-switching and Unbalanced Bilingualism in EFL Teachers' Discourse

摘要: 语码转换在英语课堂中非常普遍。由于汉语环境下的英语教师是非英语本族语说话者,他们是非平衡型双语说话者。课堂上英语教师的话语体现了语码转换和转换语言措词相结合的特征。本文先简单地区别了这两种现象,然后考察了造成这两种现象的原因和机制。语码转换和转换语言措词在EFL教师的话语中普遍存在,两者在课堂语境中互动转化,这正是非平衡双语者普遍的突出特征。Abstract: Code-switching is common in EFL classroom.English teachers in Chinese context are mostly non-native speakers.They are secondary bilingual speakers.Teachers'discourse is characterized by code-switching and trans-linguistic wording.This paper first distinguishes these two characteristics, and then explores their causes and mechanism.It is concluded that code-switching and trans-linguistic wording are very common in EFL English teachers'discourse and distinctive in unbalanced bilingualism.
