Britain's Policy toward Japan and China on the Eve of the Washington Conference
-
Abstract: After the First World War, Britain adjusted its policy toward Japan and China. It decided to expand the scope of the Anglo Japanese alliance;as to the arm race in the Far East, it took a "One Power standard" but restrained Japan;about the sphere of influence in China, it agreed with the United States' open door 'policy.Though British policy was seemingly ready to restrain Japan, it didn't change the Power status of Britain and Japan in China.
