Abstract: The paper makes a study on the relationship between Zhang Zhi zhong and the united government of Xinjiang. It concludes that in a certain sense, the founding of the united government owes to the efforts and hard work of Zhang Zhi zhong, who contributed a lot to realizing the peace of Xinjiang and the unity of nations. To some extent, the collapse of the united government is the direct result of his rule in Xinjiang. After he took over Xinjiang's affairs, the investigations, decisions and actions made by Zhang Zhi zhong in the policy of governing Xinjiang safeguarded not only the nations' unity but also the rule of Guomindang towards Xinjiang.
