Abstract: In recent years, college English teaching has made achievements under multimodal teaching environments.However, not all semiotic resources are well used and some of them are less efficiently conducted because some college English teachers lack a better understanding of the uses and functions of semiotic resources in the creation of meanings in classroom teaching.Therefore, the paper, mainly based on Multimodal Discourse Analysis, aims to explore the applicability of multimodality and the uses of semiotic resources in promoting college English teaching.The study tries to identify and discuss the effective methods of integrating verbal, visual, audial, nonverbal behaviors and other types of semiotics in English teaching classes in order to promote the in-depth development of the reform of English teaching.
