Usage Features of Nominal Groups in Chinese MA Students' Academic Texts

摘要: 文章从系统功能语言学出发,以学术语篇中名词词组的类型和前置修饰语为视角,分析了中国硕士生学位论文摘要中,作为小句参与者的名词词组和前置修饰语的使用特征。名词词组类型的统计结果表明,跨范畴名物化的名词词组和术语是中国硕士生建构学术语篇抽象性、专业性和复杂性特征的主要词汇资源。而少量压缩名物化的名词词组说明中国硕士生只是把名物化作为指称抽象事物的独立词汇,缺乏名物化是小句的压缩和推进信息发展的认识。名词词组的前置修饰语的分析结果表明,表示衔接意义的限定语是扩展名词词组的主要形式,而表示协商和客观性质的修饰语较少,表示分类意义的类别语最少。这一结果说明,前置修饰语以语篇功能为主,而缺少人际和概念功能,这不仅降低了学术语言的客观性和结构的抽象性,也使学术语篇呈现出动态的、实例的特征。Abstract: The study, taking systemic functional linguisticsas a basis, aims to analyze usage features of participant nominal group from the type and the pre-modifier perspectives. The result that many transcategorization and technical terms are adopted shows abstractness, technicality and complexity of academic texts. The statistical result of a few compress proves that nominalized groups are mainly considered as references of abstract entities but seldom as the packing of a clause and information development resource. The result that dectic covers a majority in pre-modifiers, but less epithet and lest classifier shows the decrease of objectivity and abstractness, hence dynamic andinstantial features of academic texts.
