Abstract: The problem of homogeneity is widespread in the universities'journals of humanities and social sciences,and the construction of special columns is one of the effective ways to change the status.With the "Functional Linguistics Studies" of Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing (Social Sciences Edition) as an example,the paper makes a study on the necessity,feasibility and the methods of the construction of special columns from the perspective of systemic functional linguistics(SFL).We believe that the construction of the special columns is an effective way for the development of the journals.The closer the column is to the text,the more obvious the characteristics are.The construction of special columns must be based on the context, such as culture, editor, academic resources etc.And the paper reveals that the special columns as subsystems are made up of numerous academic texts after a long time, and the more innovative the texts are, the quicker the characteristics of columns are to be formed.
