Zhu Gui’s Benevolent Policy and the Termination of Literary Inquisition in Jiaqing Dynasty
-
Abstract: As the emperor's teacher and grand secretary, Zhu Gui's benevolent policy deeply affected the Political Situation of Jiaqing Dynasty. But in the academic circle no research about it has been done. The author thinks that Zhu Gui instructed Jiaqing Emperor to become the greatest monarch as Yao and Shun and govern his empire best like them. Later Jiaqing Emperor was diligent and honest in his work and last he gave up the policy of literary inquisition. He spurred the lenient treatment of Hong—Liangji Event. This made friendly political atmosphere and the officials and intellectuals dared to discuss affairs of government. It laid a foundation that academic trend of studying real political problems was on the upgrade.
