Abstract: Professor Liu Zhixiang is the pioneer in the field of modern Chinese mining engineering. In 1948, he was hired as a professor of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China for his finding of vanadium titanium magnetite ore at Panzhihua. He was assigned to work in Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Technology (and Industry) for the adjustment of departments in 1952, serving as a member of the school committee, school union chairman, professor of the Department of mining. And he made important contributions in academic research and teaching. The paper reviews the contributions of professor Liu in the field of engineering technology and teaching and educating according to the interviews with his relatives.
