Abstract: The Institute of History of Metallurgy and Materials, University of Science and Technology Beijing, one of the earliest institutes making aspecialized study of history of science and technology, has gained series of outstanding achievements in the field of Chinese archaeometallurgy.The paper traces the early creation and development of this institute, through interviews with Professor Han Ru-bin who is pre-leader of the research institute.
