Abstract: A History of Chinese and Foreign Literary Theory Compiled by Prof. Cao Shunqing more fully shows the development outline of the world literary theory from the origin to the end of the 19th century, and highlights the overall, worldwide, different characteristics and innovation, which is called a new breakthrough on the history of world literary theory. A History of Chinese and Foreign Literary Theory firstly attempts to construct the world's "general literary theory" with the breakthrough of the "western centralism" and the emphasis on the "difference" thinking mode of the heterogeneity theory. It is in line with the demand and trend of globalization in comparative study of the world literary theory, and it also provides a broad space for poetic dialogue and the new quality of literary theory between the Chinese and foreign literary theory.
