Abstract: Both Shen Congwen and Xiaohong explored a new successful way for the writing of local-colored lyric novels in modern literature history though each had his own specialities.Being lyric novels, their works compose of the lyricism where the conflicts and plots are weakened and narrative rhythms are slowed down.However, we can see more virtues of human nature in Shen's works while more startling a world in Xiao's, which can been traced in the molding of personage's image.As to the feelings expressed in the novels, Shen's seem placid, easy and reserved while Xiao's are keen and a bit more demonstrative.Both Shen and Xiao showed emotional cares for the world in their works through the description of scenery.Although they've got great differences, their works were affected a lot by "regular" and "change" in the modern countryside.
