Blend Space: the Translation of “Emergent Meaning” in Poetic Discourse——A Case Study of Two Lines of Verse from William Wordsworth's “The Daffodils”

摘要: 文章运用概念整合理论探讨威廉.华兹华斯《水仙》中的两行诗句在理解过程中所涉及的概念整合过程,及其产生的新创意义。继而分析新创意义的语用和语篇功能,在此基础上通过对该诗句五种译文的对比分析,提出“语义溢出”翻译策略;并就新创意义中核心词汇的语义整合,提出“语义并入”翻译策略。Abstract: This paper applies the Blending Theory to the exploration of the conceptual integration and the emergent meaning involved in the comprehension of two lines of verse from William Wordsworth's "The Daffodils", and analyzes the pragmatic and discourse function of the emergent meaning, based on which, it presents a contrastive analysis of the five versions of the lines, and formulates the translation technique of "semantic overflowing";and in view of the semantic integration of the core word in the emergent meaning, it formulates another translation technique of "semantic merging".
