Abstract: Liang Qichao's theory of neo-historiography was influenced by varied Occidental academic culture, one of which is geographical environmental theory. Liang Qichao not only systematically introduced principal ideas of geographical environmental theory, hut also concretely probed into the connection between geographical environment and culture of China.Liang tried to interpret different characteristics of culture of China and the Occident through their different geographical environments. All of them reflect improvement and deepening of historical cognition to a certion extent. But Liang isn't a determinist of geographical environments.He only regarded geographical environment as an influential factor in the course of history.
